Pole position for local favourite Primm at the Dekra Lausitzring

Simon Connor Primm (21) from Großschirma secured pole position at his home ADAC GT Masters event at the Dekra Lausitzring. He set the fastest time of 1:20.476 minutes in an Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo 2 to ensure that his HGL Racing team will also start from the very front of the grid for the first time in the ADAC’s GT3 series.

“I am absolutely thrilled. We have worked so hard on the car, and it has finally paid off. Thank you very much to Audi, my team HGL Racing, and my team principal Tobias Seyfarth, without whom none of this would be possible. It is really liberating,” said a delighted Primm, who shares the car with Robin Rogalski (25/POL). “Let’s see what we can do in the race. Our Audi is good and we are full of confidence.”

Behind the pole-sitter, the battle for top spot in the table is heating up. Leyton Fourie (20/ZAF/FK Performance Motorsport) is currently second in the championship, and the South African was second in qualifying, 0.059 seconds off the top time. The BMW driver repeatedly set the fastest time early on in qualifying, and was only beaten by Primm in the end. Starting right behind him in third place will be championship leader Finn Zulauf (21/Königstein im Taunus/Liqui Moly Team Engstler Motorsport), who was 0.166 seconds slower than Primm. He took a different approach and only set his fastest lap time shortly before the end of the session.

Rounding out the top five are the two Porsche 911 GT3 R of Razoon – more than Racing. Leo Pichler (24/AUT) was 0.206 seconds off Primm’s pace and stars the race from fourth on the grid. His team-mate Pavel Lefterov (28/BGR) lines up behind him, having missed out on pole by 0.257 seconds.

The second endurance race at the Dekra Lausitzring is 80 minutes long and features two pit stops, including driver changeovers, and one tyre change. The race will be broadcast live on free-to-air TV station Sport1 from 15:05, and is also available in a livestream on Joyn, ServusTV On and youtube.com/adacmotorsports.
