Maiden pole for Kiano Blum in Zandvoort

A rookie in pole position for the second ADAC GT Masters race in Zandvoort. Kiano Blum (19/AUT/Haupt Racing Team) drove his Ford Mustang GT3 to the top of the qualifying table with a time of 1:34.673 minutes. The Austrian and his team-mate Niklas Kalus (20/Duisburg/Haupt Racing Team) were on the podium on Saturday and have now secured the best starting position for round two.

“I’m incredibly happy. I’m really pleased that the hard work since winter has paid off. This pole is my motivation to keep on working even harder,” beamed Blum. “I needed to complete an extra warm-up lap, which is why I only had a single run at pole position. But it worked out perfectly. Naturally we will try to remain in P1 during the race. At the same time, we know that it’s going to be a real challenge over the full race distance, and we’ll need to push to the limit.”

With air temperatures at 16 degrees Celsius and track temperatures at 18 degrees Celsius, Felix Hirsiger (28/CHE/Liqui Moly Team Engstler Motorsport) secured second place on the grid. The championship leader in the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo 2 was 0.256 seconds off pole position. Yesterday’s winner Leyton Fourie (20/ZAF/FK Performance Motorsport) took P3 in the BMW M4 GT3 Evo, 0.345 seconds behind. Pavel Lefterov (28/BGR/Razoon - more than Racing) in the Porsche 911 GT3 R completed the second row of the grid. This sees the top 4 in the overall standings start from the top four starting positions. Rookie Jan Duran (18/ESP) secured P5 for FK Performance Motorsport in a BMW.

Sport1 will broadcast the second race in Zandvoort from 15:00 CEST on free-to-air TV. Ahead of the live action, there will also be a recap of the previous day’s action-packed race. The second race in the Netherlands will also be streamed on Joyn, ServusTV On and Youtube.com/ADACMotorsports.
