Kiano Blum (19/AUT/Haupt Racing Team) will start from the front of the ADAC GT Masters grid at his home event at the Salzburgring. The Ford driver set the fastest lap time of 1:17.044 minutes and will line up in pole position for the second endurance race of the weekend. Felix Hirsiger (28/CHE/Liqui Moly Team Engstler Motorsport) initially thought he had done enough to secure pole in the Lamborghini. However, he was subsequently disqualified for breaching the in-session Parc Fermé regulations and will start the race from the back of the grid.
The ADAC GT Masters drivers took to the track for the second qualifying session of the weekend in sunny weather and air temperatures around 16 degrees. Starting the race from second on the grid will be Colin Bönighausen (21/Isernhagen/Razoon - More than Racing). The Porsche driver’s fastest lap was 0.167 seconds slower than Blum. He is the team-mate of Austrian Leo Pichler (24) from Weiz, who is well-placed for another crack at a home win on Sunday.
Fabian Dybionka (17/POL/Haupt Racing Team) took third place in his very first qualifying in the ADAC GT Masters. The Ford racer was 0.326 seconds off his team-mate’s time. A further 0.065 seconds back, BMW driver Storm Gjerdrum (16/NOR/FK Performance Motorsport) completed the second row of the grid. Rounding out the top five was Jonas Karklys (37/LIT/Liqui Moly Team Engstler Motorsport) in a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo 2. He completed his fastest lap in a time of 1:17.465 minutes, 0.421 seconds off the pole time. Championship leader and yesterday’s winner Tim Zimmermann (29/Langenargen/FK Performance Motorsport) starts from sixth place.
The second race of the weekend in Austria gets underway at 14:05. All the race action will be streamed live on Joyn, Servus TV On and Youtube.com/ADACMotorsports.
