Round two of the season in the Dutch dunes: The ADAC GT Masters is at the iconic Formula 1 racetrack in Zandvoort on Whit weekend (22nd to 24th May). The ADAC’s GT3 series will contest its second event of the season on the DTM platform. Tickets start at € 49 and are available at dtm.com. The races start at 15:10 on Saturday and Sunday, with free-to-air TV station Sport1 broadcasting race two live. All the action will also be streamed live on Joyn, ServusTV On and youtube.com/ADACMotorsports.
Pure Rxcing makes guest start in Zandvoort
Pure Rxcing will be on board as a guest starter with a Porsche 911 GT3 R in Zandvoort. The number 9 car will be driven by Aliaksandr Malykhin (38/GBR) and Alexey Nesov (22). Lithuanian team Pure Rxcing was founded by team principal Edgar Kochanovskij in 2022, since when it has enjoyed success internationally. Driver Alex Malykhin has been with the team from the outset. He also lines up alongside team-mate Alexey Nesov in another racing series in 2026. “We are very much looking forward to the guest start in the ADAC GT Masters,” says team principal Kochanovskij. “There is great strength in depth throughout the championship, and it would be impudent to start with too high expectations. We want to familiarise ourselves with the series, and a guest start in Zandvoort seems to us to be the perfect opportunity to do just that.”
Weather, sand and grip: The challenges in Zandvoort
Finn Zulauf (21/Königstein im Taunus/Liqui Moly Team Engstler Motorsport) travels to the North Sea with great expectations. After a win and another podium at the season opener at the Red Bull Ring, the 21-year-old and his team-mate Felix Hirsiger (27/CHE) lead the Drivers’ Championship in a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo 2, and Zulauf has extremely fond memories of Zandvoort. “It was there that I claimed my maiden race win in the ADAC GT Masters last year. That was very special,” recalls Zulauf, who also secured pole position at this circuit in 2025.
Every year, the teams and drivers face the challenges thrown at them by the proximity to the beach and the associated weather conditions. “The Dunes around the circuit mean that there is always an awful lot of sand on the track in the first session of the weekend. The grip levels are tricky to judge, because the weather can change very quickly. From wind and rain to sun and heat, anything can happen in a short time,” explains Zulauf.
The favourites in Zandvoort
The ADAC GT Masters will line up in Zandvoort for the twelfth time. By far the most successful manufacturers in the past have been Audi with five wins and Lamborghini with three. Simon Connor Primm (21/Großschirna) would love to add to that record. He and his team HGL Racing, which is making its ADAC GT Masters debut in 2026, enjoyed good results with the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo 2 at the season opener, and knows what it takes to win in Zandvoort, having tasted victory there last year: “Returning to this circuit obviously brings back fond memories and a good feeling,” says Primm. “The atmosphere on the coast is unique and it is a spectacular circuit in general. Our goal is to finish in the top five again, but it goes without saying that we would not complain if we did even better than that.”
The banked corners make the 4.259-kilometre circuit particularly impressive and popular. “Hugenholtzbocht” (turn 3) and “Arie Luyendykbocht” – the final corner before the start/finish straight – have a gradient of 32 percent. Turn 1, the legendary “Tarzanbocht” is renowned for spectacular overtaking manoeuvres. With unforgiving gravel beds right next to the track, Zandvoort is an old-school circuit, at which even more focus is on the driver than usual.
Tim Zimmermann (29/Langenargen) is the oldest serving driver in the ADAC GT Masters and finished runner-up last year. The BMW driver can look back on one victory and two podiums at the circuit in the dunes, while his FK Performance Motorsport team also has two wins there to its name. “I travel to Zandvoort without any expectations, as many factors can play a role,” says Zimmermann. “For me, it is the racetrack with the biggest character. I like it a lot, and it suits me. I have always done well there in recent years.”
