Carrie Schreiner and Alain Valente shared the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo2 of Land Motorsport in the ADAC GT Masters. A good relationship, trust and mutual respect are essential, in order to be able to perform out on the track. But aside from tenths of seconds, tyre pressure and set-up, how well do the two team-mates really know each other? The answer, and a few anecdotes, can be found in this rather different interview.

Which of you would find a hotel?

Carrie Schreiner: We both book our own accommodation anyway. If it were left to one of us, then it would probably be me: I know what I am doing, as I have done a lot of travelling and visited many racetracks.

Which of you has the bigger suitcase?

Laughter from both sides, and a clear look towards Carrie Schreiner.

Carrie Schreiner: That is easy – me (laughs). I always have my big suitcase with me, as all my toiletries take up a lot of space. Unfortunately, however, I am a bit lazy when it comes to unpacking at home. I always avoid doing it until I have to pack again – apart from my clothes, of course, which I do immediately. My suitcase just stands where I left it until it is time to go again. However, that is usually only a day or two.

Alain Valente: I can’t compete with that. I only have a few t-shirts and the bare essentials in my suitcase (laughs).

Which of you is most likely to leave something at home?

Carrie Schreiner: I can’t actually think of anything. I might have left my helmet at home during my time in karting, but that is a good 15 years ago (laughs).

Which of you is most punctual?

Alain Valente: I would say we are equally punctual. However, we are not the kind of people to arrive ten minutes early. We really turn up at the agreed time.

Which of you is most likely to have a heated discussion with your engineer or team principal?

Alain Valente: Probably me. As a general rule, I am quite a quiet guy. However, I certainly won’t shy away from a discussion, particularly if things are not going so well.

Which of you is most addicted to using your mobile phone?

Carrie Schreiner: Alain phones people far more often than me, while I do more on social media. I reckon Alain makes at least 58 calls per day (laughs).

Alain Valente: (Laughs). Yes, that’s true. I can’t deny it.
