Finn Zulauf claims first pole position at the Lausitzring

In the first qualifying session of the 2025 ADAC GT Masters season, Finn Zulauf (20/Königsstein/Paul Motorsport) drove into pole position for Saturday’s race at the Dekra Lausitzring with a time of 1:19.957 minutes. Last year’s ADAC GT4 Germany champion in his Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 was the only driver to achieve a time under the 1:20-minute mark, and he only missed out on the current DTM qualifying record at the 3.478-kilometre track by two hundredths of a second. With team-mate Simon Connor Primm (20/Großschirma), he will start his Paul Motorsport team’s home race from first place.

“It’s a bit surreal and we weren’t expecting it,” said ADAC GT Masters rookie Zulauf. “I managed really well and am very happy with my lap and the car. The team did a fantastic job. We need to stay cool in the race but starting from pole position we are slightly more flexible in terms of tactics. The pace of the race should be good, and Simon is also incredibly strong here.”

In glorious sunshine and just under 10 degrees, with a track temperature of 17 degrees, it was initially Alain Valente (28/CHE/Land-Motorsport) and Emil Gjerdrum (18/NOR/LIQUI MOLY Team Engstler by GRT) who were taking it in turns to set the best times. A few minutes before the end of the session, the times dropped, and it was ultimately Finn Wiebelhaus (19/Obertshausen/Haupt Racing Team) in the new Ford Mustang GT3 who edged into second place just 0.304 seconds behind Zulauf. Julian Hanses (27/Hilden/FK Performance Motorsport) in the BMW M4 GT3 Evo will start the race from third on the grid. Moritz Wiskirchen (22/Euskirchen/SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm) in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 claimed fourth place in qualifying. Alexander Schwarzer (36/DEU/Fach Auto Tech) in the Porsche 911 GT3 R completes the top 5.

The first race of the season gets underway at 14:10 CEST and will be livestreamed free on SPORT1.de, Joyn and ServusTV ON . The stream will also be available to fans in German and English at youtube.com/@ADACMotorsports, ensuring that no one misses a single second of the 80-minute endurance race.
