Lamborghini launches the Huracán GT3 Evo II: Possible use from 2023

Lamborghini has launched the Huracán GT3 Evo II – the third evolution of the successful race car, which was designed and developed by Lamborghini Squadra Corse, based on the Huracán STO. Like its two predecessors, the car will be used in international GT3 racing and complies with the new technical FIA regulations, which came into force in 2022. Delivery to customers is set to commence in the second half of the year, with the race debut planned for next year’s 24 Hours of Daytona. All Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo, which are also run by two teams in the ADAC GT Masters, can be upgraded to the specification of the Lamborghini GT3 Evo II using a special evolution kit.

The third evolutionary stage features new aerodynamic solutions, while the air scoop and rear fin contribute to a more efficient intake system and improved balance of the car. The innovations include the rear wing, which is mounted on supports made of an aluminium alloy. The new supports allow the wing to be configured more precisely than on the predecessor model. The modified roll cage with two additional rear pillars, and brand-new side parts made of a carbon-Kevlar honeycomb structure, make for better safety. To optimise the performance in endurance and sprint races, the brake system has been upgraded with newly designed brake callipers and brake pads. The electronically operated throttle valves increase the efficiency of the V10 engine.

Giorgio Sanna, Head of Motorsport at Lamborghini: “The new Huracán GT3 Evo II is not simply a further development of the current car. It is a new project, which reinforces the technology transfer between the motorsport department at Lamborghini and the rest of the company. It has to perform two difficult tasks: On the one hand, it should be as successful as the previous generations of the Huracán GT3, which have won more than 40 international titles in six seasons. On the other hand, it should also repeat their sales success, and contribute to reaching the target of selling 500 Huracán race cars since 2015.”

With 34 victories in the ADAC GT Masters, Lamborghini is the third most successful manufacturer in the series. Twelve of those triumphs came with the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo. This season, the Emil Frey Racing team starts with three cars from the Italian car maker. T3 Motorsport lines up with a fourth Lamborghini in the German GT Championship, in which the races are broadcast live and in full by TV partner NITRO.
