Two BMW works drivers line up for Schubert Motorsport

A strong duo for Schubert Motorsport: The team from Oschersleben will line up in the German GT Championship with BMW works drivers Nick Yelloly (30/GB) and Jesse Krohn (30/FIN). Schubert Motorsport is one of the most successful teams in the series, in which it runs a BMW M6 GT3. This season, the team will also start in ADAC GT4 Germany for the first time. Marcel Lenerz (23/Bad Hersfeld) has already been confirmed as the first driver. Oschersleben hosts the opening round of this season’s ADAC GT Masters from 14th to 16th May. New TV partner NITRO is broadcasting all the races live and in full.

British and Finnish works drivers team up in the ADAC GT Masters

In Yelloly and Krohn, Schubert Motorsport can rely on two experienced GT drivers. Yelloly has enjoyed great success in Porsche one-make cups and has been a BMW works driver since 2019. Last year, he contested his first season in the ADAC GT Masters, claimed his maiden victory at the Red Bull Ring, and also won the ADAC Total 24h Race at the Nürburgring. Since 2015, he has also been active as a Formula 1 development driver for Aston Martin and the team’s predecessors Force India and Racing Point.

For his team-mate Krohn, the 2021 season marks a return to the ADAC GT Masters. The Finn has been a BMW works driver since 2018 and recently did most of his driving in the USA, where his successes included a class victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona. Krohn made his first ADAC GT Masters appearance for Schubert Motorsport in 2015. Last season, he helped the team out at the Sachsenring.

“We are delighted to be able to announce such a strong duo of drivers for the ADAC GT Masters,” says team principal André Schubert, whose outfit is the third most successful in the history of the ADAC GT Masters, with eleven victories to its name. “Last season, we made excellent progress with the BMW M6 GT3. In Nick and Jesse, we have two outstanding BMW Motorsport drivers on board, who will help us to make further progress. Both were instrumental in the team’s success last year. I am confident that we have made the right decision with this combination.”

Talent development in ADAC GT4 Germany

Schubert Motorsport is also joining the field in ADAC GT4 Germany this season. The Oschersleben-based team will run a BMW M4 GT4 in this series. The goal: To train and prepare talented youngsters for GT3 racing as part of its own junior programme. Marcel Lenerz has been confirmed as the first driver. The German has switched to automobile racing after a successful career in karting, in which he won the title in the ADAC Kart Masters in 2013. After his first outings in the BMW M4 GT4 in endurance races, he will now take his place behind the wheel in sprint races.

“We are very pleased to announce that we will be racing in ADAC GT4 Germany,” says André Schubert. “In recent years, the series has become firmly established on the national motorsport scene and provides an excellent opportunity to develop young drivers. In Marcel we welcome a very talented newcomer to the team, of whom we expect great things. We have an exciting season ahead of us.” The second driver for ADAC GT4 Germany will be announced at a later date.
