Favourites Bearman and Tramnitz win Pirelli Pole Position Awards

Title contenders Oliver Bearman (16, Great Britain, Van Amersfoort Racing) and Tim Tramnitz (16, Hamburg, US Racing) dominated ADAC Formula 4 qualifying at the Nürburgring and each picked up a Pirelli Pole Position Award. Tramnitz was unbeatable in the first qualifying session, finishing ahead of championship leader Bearman, who was second fastest. However, the Brit hit back immediately in Q2, securing the first place on the grid. Meanwhile, Tramnitz had to settle for fourth place. The races on Saturday and Sunday will be streamed live and exclusively on RTL+ (rtlplus.com) and adac.de/motorsport.

“Qualifying was very positive. Q1 was not perfect, with all the traffic, but I managed to put together a clean lap in Q2. All in all, today has been a very good start to the weekend,” said the visibly happy Bearman, who leads Tramnitz by 23 points. “I am really looking forward to tomorrow. I think they will be good races. I am not in a position that means I need to take big risks.”

Tramnitz will start the opening race of the weekend, at 11:15 on Saturday, from in front of his rival Bearman. They are followed in third place by Russia’s Vlad Lomko (16, US Racing). The fastest rookie was Alex Dunne (15, Ireland, US Racing), who starts from fifth place on the grid.

“I am very happy with the first qualifying session. My goal is to score as many points as possible,” said Tramnitz. Looking ahead to the second race of the weekend on Sunday morning (09:45) he added: “I will have to work my way through the field, but I remain confident. We have good pace and anything can happen.”

Bearman starts race two from pole position, followed by Dunne, who was again the fastest rookie, and Joshua Dufek (16, Switzerland, Van Amersfoort Racing) in third place.

The race weekend concludes with race three on Sunday (14:00). The reverse grid rule applies here, meaning the top eight drivers from race two start in reverse order.
