Mücke set to field Dürksen, Göhler und Knopp: Peter Mücke in PS on Air - The Ravenol ADAC GT Masters Talk Show

The date for the start of the ADAC Formula 4 season has been set, and Team Principal Peter Mücke can hardly wait with just nine weeks to go before the season opens at the Lausitzring (31st July to 2nd August). "I'm very pleased to be getting started," he told us, because "there comes a point when you begin to suffer withdrawal symptoms!"

73-year-old Mücke was a guest of PS on Air - The Ravenol ADAC GT Masters Talk Show on Sunday, and you could see the veteran team boss literally fizzing with anticipation. The team will line up in the ADAC High-Speed Academy as ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg eV this year and field two drivers that we are already know from 2019 plus one newcomer.

Joshua Dürksen (16, Paraguay), who was third-best rookie and finished eleventh overall last year, thinks he has a chance of winning the title. 17-year-old Nico Göhler (17, Germany) is also returning to the fray. He took third place in the championship as Formula 4 got underway in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and is keen to build on that success in the German series. Mücke will also have Josef Knopp (16, Czech Republic) in the line-up, who will be contesting his first season in ADAC Formula 4.

For Peter Mücke, though, this season will be just one of many in his long motor racing career. He has seen numerous drivers come and go over the years, many of whom have gone on to become established as professionals in motorsport, including Sebastian Vettel, who used to drive for Mücke and is now a four-time Formula 1 world champion and patron of the ADAC Formula 4.

"We have a high success rate, which gives me a great deal of satisfaction. It makes you appreciate that the huge amount of effort and stress involved is worth it," said Mücke à propos his outfit and its fine record. He added: "Working with young drivers is a completely different challenge that you have to really enjoy. But it's also a whole lot of fun, especially with young people, to realise that they understand you and to see how things develop." By the way, Mücke also fields a team in the ADAC GT Masters.

SPORT1 will broadcast racing from the ADAC High-Speed Academy on TV. The races will also be available as live stream online at SPORT1.de, adac.de/motorsport, on the ADAC Formula 4 Facebook page and at YouTube.com/ADAC.
