Hauger again fastest in FP2 : Red Bull Junior takes best time from Pourchaire in second ADAC Formula 4 practice

Red Bull Junior Dennis Hauger from Dutch team Van Amersfoort Racing was on impressive form again in perfect conditions for the second ADAC Formula 4 practice session at the Nürburgring. With a best time of 1:27.276 minutes, the 16-year-old, who is currently in third place in the overall standings, was even faster than he had been in the first session and again finished in front of championship leader, Théo Pourchaire from US Racing CHRS. He was just under three tenths down on the Norwegian this time. Earlier today, he had been a mere eight thousandths of a second slower than Hauger, literally, the blink of an eyelid. Pourchaire’s team-mate, rookie Roman Stanek (15, Czech Republic) completed the Top Three.

Gianluca Petecof (16, Brazil, Prema Powerteam), Oliver Rasmussen (18, Denmark, Prema Powerteam), rookie Joshua Dürksen (15, Paraguay, ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg eV) and Alessandro Ghiretti (17, France, US Racing CHRS) finished fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh respectively. Ghiretti had been third this morning. Arthur Leclerc (18, Monaco)from US Racing CHRS, who is the younger brother of Formula 1 star Charles Leclerc, is currently in second place overall in the standings but pitted in eighth place.

As far as US Racing CHRS team bosses, Ralf Schumacher and Gerhard Ungar, are concerned, their home fixture on the legendary circuit in the Eifel is all about extending their overall lead in the three standings. Pourchaire is currently in top position in the drivers’ standings ahead of Leclerc and Hauger. Stanek is best Rookie, and the German outfit is also ahead in the team competition.

The weekend will continue for the ADAC High-Speed Academy’s juniors with qualifying at 5.20 pm. The lights will turn green at 11.05 am on Saturday to mark the start of the twelfth race of the season. The 17 drivers will challenge one another for vital championship points in the next two rounds on Sunday at 9.50 am and 5.00 pm.
