ADAC Formel 4·25.1.2019

Dennis Hauger named as VAR's third driver: The Norwegian is set to make his ADAC Formula 4 debut in 2019

It’s all happening at Van Amersfoort Racing. Following on from Niklas Krütten (16, Germany) and Ido Cohen (17, Israel), the well established Dutch team from Zeewolde have now signed their third driver for the 2019 ADAC Formula 4 season, Dennis Hauger, who is only 15. The fifth season of the ADAC junior series will get underway on April 26th with the first three races at Oschersleben. Teams and drivers in the ADAC’s High-Speed Academy will contest seven race weekends during 2019, and the season finale will take place towards the end of September at the Sachsenring.

Despite his tender years, Hauger’s previous track record is very impressive. He first began racing at the age of eight and then went on to win titles in various international kart championships during the years that followed. He became the youngest driver ever to take the title of Junior Champion in the 2016 German Kart Championship (DKM) and was the youngest champion in the senior class in 2017.

He switched to single-seater racing in 2018. In the British Formula 4 series, he was championship runner-up in the Rookie stakes and finished fourth overall, having secured four race wins. In 2019, he will compete in two of the most competitive series for juniors at the same time, in the ADAC Formula 4 and its Italian counterpart. This will be a big and important career move for him. His ambition is to finish 'at the top of the charts' after the final race weekend."

"I know it won’t be a walk in the park, but I’m looking forward to the challenge of competing in two of the toughest F4 championships around simultaneously," said Hauger, who will celebrate his 16th birthday on March 17th. "Van Amersfoort Racing have a car, with which I’ll be able to win races."

Rob Niessink, CEO at Van Amersfoort Racing, is also impressed with Hauger and his talent: "Dennis has a level of maturity that you don’t often see at such an early stage. He’s shown what he’s made of, for sure, and we’re really looking forward to working with him."
