Vesti and VAR as ADAC Formula 4 title contenders: The young Dane aims to build on his promising rookie season in 2018

Frederik Vesti (16, Denmark) showed himself to be a driver with enormous potential in 2017. This year, he continues as a member of Van Amersfoort Racing squad and clearly has the title in his sights. He intends to build on the successes of his rookie season and to get his challenge off to a solid start in the first three races at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben on the weekend of 13th 15th April. Although Vesti was a latecomer to the line-up of the illustrious Dutch outfit in 2017, he soon caught the eye, making a first podium appearance in the second event at the Lausitzring. Two race weekends later at Oschersleben, he registered a maiden win. At the end of the ADAC Formula 4 season, he finished seventh in the general classification, having scored points in twelve of the 21 races.

Vesti and Van Amersfoort Racing now aim to build on the achievements of his first season in 2018, and the signs are encouraging. During the tests in late March at Oschersleben, the now 16-year-old was one of the fastest drivers, setting the best lap times in four practice sessions. "We are very pleased to have Frederik back on board, and we are convinced that he can be a key player in the championship," said Jeroen de Jong, manager of the Van Amersfoort Racing F4 team. "He proved with his good results last season that he is a fast learner. What's more, he is a joy to work with."

For Frederik Vesti too, the continued relationship with VAR is an ambition fulfilled: "Choosing the best team is one thing. But finding the money to make that dream come true is a completely different story. This year, I'm receiving support from Danish companies and business people on a scale I never thought possible. It's great to be able to continue working with Jeroen and the rest of the team. The results of last season - especially the race victory - make you want more. My aim is to be in the fight for the 2018 ADAC Formula 4 championship title."
