Lawson clocks fastest time in FP1 at Lausitzring: The 16-year-old tops timesheet at the start of the third race weekend ahead of Weerts and Wishofer

Liam Lawson (16, New Zealand, Van Amersfoort Racing) has got the third race weekend of the ADAC Formula 4 season underway by setting the best time in free practice. The New Zealander was the fastest in the first session on Friday afternoon with a lap of 01:46.750 minutes ahead of team-mate Charles Weerts (17, Belgium) and Mick Wishofer (18, Austria, US Racing CHRS).

The track was dry and temperatures hovered around the 15°C mark. Championship leader Lirim Zendeli (18, Germany, US Racing CHRS) was fourth fastest ahead of Oliver Caldwell (15, Great Britain, Prema Theodore Racing), Enzo Fittipaldi (16, Brazil, Prema Theodore Racing) and Frederik Vesti (16, Denmark, Van Amersfoort Racing). In eighth place and thus best rookie in the session was David Schumacher (16, Germany, USA Racing CHRS) ahead of Gianluca Petecof (15, Brazil, Prema Theodore Racing) and current rookie class leader Niklas Krütten (15, Germany, ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg e.V.).

The next ADAC Formula 4 free practice session at the Lausitzring will be on Friday afternoon at 15:10 CEST, with the actual qualis being contested in the evening at 18:30. SPORT1 will be showing the races from the ADAC High-Speed Academy on TV.
